Minnesota Opera - Romeo and Juliet
A story as timeless as love itself
Why see Minnesota Opera - Romeo and Juliet?
The Shakespeare Classic
In an original production from director Matthew Ozawa, Shakespeare's story of star-crossed lovers is created anew in this production from Minnesota Opera! Elevated by Charles Gounod's exhilarating music with lyrics by Jules Barbier and Michel Carre, this glittering production of the timeless story is a thrilling piece of opera to witness! Performed in French with subtitles displayed above the performers.
What Is The Story?
Whilst Romeo Capulet and Juliet Montague are concerned with love at first sight, their rival clans will stop at nothing to destroy the other. When it becomes clear the match will not be tolerated, the pair hatches a scheme to escape the embittered streets of Verona; only the outcome depends on some dangerous trickery that might just see their fates entwined forever, and not in the marriage bed as previously planned.
